My department/program would like to create social media accounts, how do I get started?
To create a social media account for your department or program, you'll need to register the account before launching it with university content. Authorization must come from Arts and Sciences Communications and Technical Solutions (CaTS). A department manager should also be provided login access as a backup, and all login information should be securely stored. You can find the Account Registration Form and more details on profile naming conventions and images on our website.
What are some best practices for social media?
Some best practices include tailoring content to your platform’s audience and posting consistently to maintain visibility. For Facebook, post 1-2 times per week and respond to messages or comments within 24 hours. On Instagram, focus on high-quality visuals and post twice a week, engaging with followers via comments and direct messages. Be sure to use accessible content practices, such as adding alt text to images and captions to videos. For LinkedIn, post 1-2 times per week, focusing on professional insights, and for X (formerly Twitter), keep posts concise and engaging, using visuals and hashtags to increase reach.

Where do I find the official department or college logo?
What fonts can be used in design?
- Usual is the brand's most prominent typeface. It is suited for headlines, subheads, body copy and captions. Note that the bold and ExtraBold weights of the font work best in headlines, while the book and medium weights are better for body copy.
- Alternate Gothic Condensed is the brand's secondary typeface. It can be paired with Usual to create big, bold headlines. Note that we only use the condensed weights of the font.
- Bodoni PT VF is used for more formal applications. Note that we use this font sparingly.
All fonts can be downloaded through Adobe Fonts

How do I get access to edit our departmental/program website/webpage?
In general, department managers have access to make edits to their websites. If you need access to make edits, your department manage or chair/director needs send us a request. Please note that each individual already has access to make edits to their own profile page.
What kinds of websites can I request, and how are they supported?
There are several options available for creating and hosting websites:
- Department or Profile Pages: In many cases, extending profile pages or existing department websites are sufficient to showcase additional information.
- Standalone Websites: We can also create standalone websites using a predefined template, particularly for lab/research projects and conference websites.
Other University-Provided Options (not directly supported by us):
- Drupal Site from UK Web Communications: You can request a Drupal site from the UK Web Communications team. They offer training on building and managing the site, and their sites use the official UK-branded template.
- WordPress Site from UK Libraries: Alternatively, UK Libraries provides WordPress sites (among other systems). You can find detailed resources and support through their CreateUKY platform.
