Students will examine the processes underlying the development of models, theories and conceptual framework. Selected models, theories, and conceptual frameworks from nursing and other disciplines will be evaluated for their utility in advanced nursing practice. All are discussed within the context of the nature of nursing knowledge and the expanding scientific basis for advanced practice nursing. This course serves as a foundation for clinical courses in which models, theories, and conceptual frameworks are used to develop and evaluate new approaches to the clinical practice of advanced nursing practice.
