Note:
Students will focus on conceptualizing, structuring and completing independent short films, while discovering a global lineage of experimental filmmakers from the last century. We will consider how these artists used the imaging equipment of their times for alternatives to the intended purpose, how they re-imagined languages of cinematic editing, and we will light our torches with their inspiration.

An intermediate level course that allows students to explore a variety of video, film, and sound environments. Topics may include experimental film, video installation and sculpture, documentary film, script-to- screen, sound environment, and experimental or hybrid forms. Nine studio hours per week. May be repeated to a maximum of nine credit hours when identified under a different subtitle.
