University of Kentucky-Jewish Heritage Fund Holocaust Education Teacher Leader Celebration and Reflection 2022-23

On July 31, teachers from around Kentucky participated in the University of Kentucky-Jewish Heritage Fund Holocaust Education Teacher Leader

Celebration and Reflection 2022-23. Funded by a grant from the Jewish Heritage Fund and led by the Interdisciplinary Program in Jewish Studies in the College of Arts and Sciences at UK, the Holocaust Education Initiative creates opportunities for interdisciplinary content sharing, pedagogical training, and collaborative planning among Kentucky teachers. The initiative aims to empower Kentucky teachers to meet the requirements of the 2018 Ann Klein and Fred Gross Holocaust Education Act. The event looked at what the participants learned in a series of workshops as well as their own experiences in teaching about the Holocaust and worked on creating what comes next. Event leaders included co-directors jan Fernheimer and Karen Petrone of UK as well as Lauren Hill and Jill Abney.
