Controlled enrollment. A learning contract is required for this course. Contact instructor for enrollment information.This partial-term (5-week) course will be centered on the theme "Power and Place: Intersectional Approaches to Appalachia." This class will interrogate issues relating to rurality from an intersectional perspective. Working with the theme "Rural Reimagined: A Grand Challenge for Appalachia" from the 2025 Appalachian Studies Association Conference, this class will engage with a variety of readings and activities relating to inequality and place in the region. Students will also attend the Appalachian Studies Association Conference to be held March 20-22 in Cookeville, TN. (Pass/Fail)
