This course is an introduction to generalist social work practice theory and skills in professional practice with individuals and families. SW 300 enhances analytical thinking that underlies the generalist practice model: engagement, assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation and termination, with individuals, and focuses on mastering social work skills for professional practice with individuals. In addition, this course offers an examination of social work practitioners' roles in the direct delivery of social services within the context of professional values and ethics. Special attention is paid to the social worker's obligations towards populations-at-risk.
