This course explores the theory and methods of measuring the performance and quality of pharmaceutical health outcomes emphasizing evidence-based practice and quality improvement approaches. Particularly, the course focuses on the use of data and information systems to measure quality, performance, and outcomes. Topics covered include designing and testing outcome based measures, measuring and evaluating satisfaction, measuring and evaluating treatment, risk adjustment, survey methods, patient records, encounter data, administrative data, claims data, and an assessment of the current outcome based standard National Committee on Quality Assurance, HEDIS 2009.
