Dr. Michael Eides University of Kentucky I will discuss physics of exotic muonium and positronium atoms, high precision quantum electrodynamic calculations of energy levels, and determination of the electron-muon mass ratio. I'll introduce the proton radius puzzle, discuss briefly the experimental data on muonic hydrogen, deuterium, and helium, and explain the status of the respective theory.

The UK Appalachian Center is proud to welcome Crystal Wilkinson for a mini-residency that will include an Appalachian Forum entitled: Birds of Opulence: Black Women, Madness, and Resilience in Appalachia. This event is free, open to the public, and will be held on Thursday, March 23, 2015 from 7:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. in the UK Law School's Auditorium (please, enter through the Memorial Hall side entrance of the building). Ms. Wilkinson will give a public reading and hold a discussion with attendees. There is a public reception at the UK Appalachian Center, 624 Maxwelton Court from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. before the reading and discussion.
The UK Appalachian Center is hosting a SWAP (Sharing Work on Appalachia in Progress) Meeting from 12 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, March 31, 2015. Two of five 2014 Brown Award recipients, Lindsay Shade and Kathryn Engle will be presenting on their research. Each presenter has research interests in Appalachia and is a graduate students at the University of Kentucky.
