Advanced coverage of recent research within the field of behavioral neuroscience. The course will provide in-depth coverage of one topic, such as developmental psychobiology, neurobiology of learning and memory, or the biological basis of reward. May be repeated to a maximum of six credits.

Topics will vary from year to year and may include concept learning, memory, imitation, language, and cooperation. The course will also examine these processes from the perspective of sociobiology. Designed as a senior-capstone course for psychology majors to integrate classroom learning, theory, and practice in the context of a research or field-based experience in psychology under the supervision of a psychology faculty member. Students spend nine hours weekly in the placement site and meet weekly as a group with the course instructor to discuss placements, readings, and writing assignments.

This course focus will be on the oral and written presentation of research results. The course will use a seminar format. Students will complete their thesis research, prepare a written report, and present it to the seminar.
