Stan Heaton's Film Debut: "New York Money"
Stan Heaton's short film, 'New York Money,' premiers Friday, May 13th at 7 pm in Worsham Theater (located on the main level of UK's Student Center). The event is free to everyone, but the filmmakers will be taking cash donations to help fund their upcoming projects. Stan is in UK's English Department.
Synopsis:
After losing his job, his home, and his family in a tumultuous economy, Al Valentino (Scott Gilbert) and his friends seek revenge on a bank executive. Mike Cleary and Stan Heaton also star in this character-driven criticism of the American housing crisis and its impact on the middle class.

UK Physics & Astronomy, and the MacAdam Student Observatory, present Kentucky SkyTalk
This series of popular-level talks brings the wonder of scientific discovery to the central Kentucky Community. Some of UK’s leading researchers explain, in ways that are understandable to the general public, aspects of the world around us. Topics include how stars make energy, how we can measure what stars are made of, and how stars are formed. All talks are on the second Thursday of the month and are in the Chemistry-Physics Building. They are free and open to the public. Weather permitting, the talks will be followed by viewing at the University’s MacAdam Student Observatory.

English, History Professors Awarded Honorary Degrees
Gurney Norman, Kentucky Poet Laureate in 2009-10 nd director of UK's Creative Writing Program, and author and former UK history professor George C. Herring were awarded honorary degrees this past weekend.
